Homicide Investigation in Bradford

(Bradford, ON) The South Simcoe Police Service is investigating a homicide that occurred overnight in the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury.

On Sunday, September 4, 2022, at approximately 4:30 a.m., police discovered a male in distress on Holland Street West in the area of Deer Run Crescent. The male was suffering from a fatal injury and was pronounced deceased a short while later at the scene.

Police have not yet identified the deceased male and are appealing to the public for assistance to establish the man’s identity.

He is described as male, white, 50-60 years of age, heavy set, approximately 6′ tall, receding hairline with brown hair and facial stubble.
He was wearing red shorts, white t-shirt, and white and black running shoes.

A male suspect later surrendered to police and there is no threat to public safety. He was taken into custody on a charge of second-degree murder and is being held for a bail hearing.

The initial investigation has determined the deceased man came to the aid of a young female involved in a violent altercation with the accused on Holland Street West. The female was taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and released.

Holland Street will remain closed between Toronto Street and Deer Run Crescent for several hours.
